St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception School recognizes each child as an individual, worthy of love, respect, and understanding. Our Catholic faith is integrated in all of the subjects taught and is very much a part of our school day. We use the Diocese of Green Bay Curriculum and continually evaluate the students in order to create a stimulating, challenging, and enjoyable learning experience. Each subject area is reviewed regularly, as we strive to provide an atmosphere where a positive self-concept is achieved for each student.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception has been committed to educating the whole child: mind, body, and soul since 1887. The community at large supports Catholic education for all children. Both faculty and staff believe God has called us to serve Him as disciples of the Catholic Church as we teach as He did. We feel it is a privilege to be able to have the teachings of the Church be part of our whole day and of the entire curriculum. Kindergarten through 8th grade take turns preparing the weekly Wednesday Mass, which is celebrated by the whole school and their families who wish to attend. Reconciliation is offered to 3rd through 8th graders during Advent and Lent. Preparation for the Sacrament of reconciliation and Holy Eucharist is provided in 2nd grade.
We pray our students will leave St. Mary School prepared as faith-filled adolescents because of the experiences, opportunities, values, and moral teachings they have received.
EARLY CHILDHOOD
The Early Childhood Curriculum promotes academic, spiritual, and emotional growth for the young learner. The children are exposed to a print rich environment where they develop the skills needed to be successful throughtout their learning career. A warm Christian atmosphere promotes learning through interaction with other children and hands-on experiences. The children are encouraged to use their words to express their feelings as they interact within the classroom and the playgound. Emphasis is placed on learning through concrete experiences as the developmental stage of each learner is recognized.
ELEMENTARY
The 1st through 4th grade classrooms are self-contained with the exception of music, physical education, library and computer classes. The curriculum consists of Religion, Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, PE, Music, Computer and Library. Organizational skills and study habits are taught to empower the students with qualities that will support them throughout their life. Teachers present different opportunities throughout the year to develop the faith formation of each student.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Early adolescence is a unique time in the lives of the middle school students. They struggle daily with their changing self and the complex world in which they live. St. Mary School is committed to foster a Christian environment that will raise academic excellence as the student grows spiritually, physically and intellectually. A variety of experiences will be offered to support each student as they prepare for high school and beyond.
TECHNOLOGY
St. Mary incorporates modern technology into all areas of the curriculum in order to prepare its students for the world in which they live. We are equipped with a computer lab featuring 23 computers. Additionally, we have placed SMART Boards in all of our classroooms. Specific computer classes are taught Kindergarten through 8th grade twice a week. Open lab time is available for all grade levels to ensure technology is being incorporated into all instruction. Students have access to the internet which is monitored and has several safe guards to ensure a child-friendly environment for independent research projects which enhance our core curriculum. Educational websites are also used to further enrich computer knowledge and application.
St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception offers a complete religious and academic education program by a degreed and state certified teaching staff. In addition, educators are also required to meet specific standards for Diocesan religious certification.
